November Elections in Acworth and Kennesaw

Voters in Acworth and Kennesaw will be able to decide on November 8th whether or not they want Sunday alcohol sales.

The City of Kennesaw will hold a General and Special Election on November 8, 2011 for the voters to “determine whether or not to authorize the City to permit and regulate package sales by retailers of malt beverages, wine and distilled spirits on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.”

The City of Acworth will also hold an election on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 for the referendum of Sunday alcohol sales. Also, voters will be asked to decide on a Board of Alderman position for Post 3.  Two posts are uncontested with Butch Price (Post 1) and Gene Pugliese (Post 2) both running unopposed. Incumbent Bob Weatherford faces challenger Brett North for the Post 3 position.

In Kennesaw, former Kennesaw Mayor Leonard Church is running against incumbent Mark Mathews. Four years ago, Church ran for mayor against Mathews but was unsuccessful. Two City Council positions are also up for grabs. Incumbent Cris Eaton-Welsh is running against Kimmarie Seabrook Gollahon for Post 1. In Post 2, incumbent Tim Killingsworth faces Jimmy Dickens.
