Memorial for 1st Lt. Walsh at Kennesaw State University

1st Lieutenant Jonathan P. Walsh died April 22, 2012, in Patia, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. 1st Lieutenant Walsh, a platoon leader, was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Prior to joining the Army in March 2010, 1st Lt. Walsh was enmployed as a credit manager for Wells Fargo. In the spring of 2008, he graduated from Kennesaw State University, where he reeived a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management. He was a graduate of North Cobb High School.

1st Lt. Walsh was 28 years old and is survived by his wife Debra, his son Austin Mitchell, his parents, Carolyn and Paul Walsh, brother Christopher Walsh, sister Lorie Maharray, niece Catherine Knight, and nephew Robert Maharrey.
