WellStar Health Parks Provides New Level of Service to Acworth, Kennesaw

Called health parks, the services provided at these facilities, currently planned in Acworth and East Cobb, will be tailored to fit the needs of their communities
With outpatient healthcare expected to grow 30% over the next five years, WellStar Health System is embarking on a unique initiative to deliver outpatient care in community-based outpatient facilities.
Called health parks, the services provided at these facilities, currently planned in Acworth and East Cobb, will be tailored to fit the needs of their communities. Each health park will contain some or all of the following: medical office space for primary care & specialty physicians, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, urgent care, lab, pre-admission testing, cardiac diagnostics, sleep studies, cardiac/pulmonary/physical rehabilitation and women’s health. We believe that this innovative service model ultimately will improve healthcare access and convenience for the communities we serve.
The first health park to open will be the WellStar Acworth Health Park, located at 4550 Cobb Parkway NW. When it opens this summer, the three-story, 70,000 square foot building (first phase) will serve a three zip code primary service area of over 90,000 residents.
The WellStar Acworth Health Park will specifically include comprehensive medical diagnostics including imaging, lab, pre-admission testing, cardiac and sleep. The first floor will also include an urgent care center, a retail pharmacy, a community education/wellness center and a cafe. The second and third floors is planned to provide physician office space to twelve medical specialties with a strong foundation of primary care physicians: family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics and OB/GYN. Other physician specialists will include cardiology, pulmonary, ENT, hand surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, general surgery and neurosurgery.
With the addition of outpatient centers such as the WellStar Acworth Health Park, WellStar will be well positioned to respond to national health care reform initiatives such as caring for patients at an appropriate level and focusing on prevention, wellness and education.
